Looking for information on the family of Augustus Wissinger, b 1846 at Ohio. Found in 1850 Census in Monroe Twp., Darke Co., Ohio. The parents of this Augustus WISSINGER was John Wissinger (also spelled as Wisenger) and Martha WILLIAMSON. John was born in Baltimore, Md., in 1797 and moved to Montgomery Co., Ohio, before 1827. He can be found in the 1850 Census for Monroe Twp., Darke Co., Ohio. He died in 1888.

John and Martha had 13 children:

  • 3. George; married Harriet RUDISILL - 6 children

    John and Barbara CASSEL are buried in Teagarden Cemetery, OH. Their daughter Rebecca married my G Grandfather Elias PETERS. I would like to know more about her family. They moved from Darke Co. to Indiana. Nothing was ever related to us about her family.

    John J. Browne was born 28 April 1843 in Greenville, Darke Co., OH - son of Andrew BROWNE, farmer, & Elizabeth GOFF. His parents died while he was an infant, but his grandparents gave him the advantage of a good education. John married Anna W. STRATTON (Canfield, Mahoning Co., OH) in Oswego, KS on 16 June 1874. They arrived in Spokane Falls, Washington Territory 1878. He was a member of the Constitutional Convention which planned the present Constitution for the state of Washington & was pioneer in the building of Spokane. His grandparents & their other descendants would indeed by proud him. I would like to know other members of this man's family, so they could know about him & I could learn more about him.

    I am looking for information on the following MARTIN family who were residence of Van Buren Township of Darke County, Ohio, for the 1850 Census. Wade MARTIN is my great-great grandfather. He married Elizabeth DANGLER (also of the township in 1850) in Darke County in September 1855. He joined the Illinois Volunteers in August 1862 and died of typhoid fever in Ironton, Missouri, in October 1862. Elizabeth remarred several times and lived until the 1920s and died in Kansas.

    I believe Silas, George, and Christopher may have served in the Civil War from Darke County, Ohio

    I am looking for information on Elizabeth DANGLER, resident of Darke County in 1850. She is my great-great grandmother. She was a resident of Van Buren township. The 1850 census listed the following:
  • Leonard DANGLER 46 Farmer born in New Jersey
  • Elizabeth DANGLER 37 born in New Jersey
  • Elizabeth DANGLER 16 born in Ohio (my great-great grandmother)
  • Deborah DANGLER 14
  • Mary Jane DANGLER 10
  • Chris (?sp) DANGLER 12
  • Sarah Ann DANGLER 1

    Elizabeth DANGLER married Wade MARTIN in Darke County in September 1855. They had three children:

  • George R. MARTIN: Born September 21, 1856 in Darke Co.
  • Ambrose L. MARTIN: Born November 28, 1858 probably in Darke Co.
  • Martha J. MARTIN (my great grandmother) born January 5, 1861 perhaps in Logan County, Illinois.

    Looking for parents of Samuel BOTTORFF his wife Mary WHOLE/HOLT/AULT. Some records I have found list him as living in the Darke County area with his parents after leaving Pennsylvanina. He later moved with his wife to Indiana. Where he raised a family and died in the late 1800's. He is buried in Warren County, Indiana.

    Searching for birthplace of Joseph ECABERT, born 12-16-1816, I think in Switzerland. First found him in l852 in New Albany, Floyd Co., IN, when he married Francoise DURANT. In l858, he married Rose JORDAN and moved to Vincennes, Knox County, In where he died in l899. Do not know when he came to USA. Searching for that date also.Would like to hear from any Ecaberts.
