HATCH, MAURER, WALDEN, YATES posted by Blake Bailey on Friday, June 1, 2001

For a biography I'm writing of the novelist Richard YATES, I'd appreciate any geneological data relevant to his mother, Ruth MAURER, born in Greenville, OH (1891), to Amos Bigelow MAURER and Fanny HATCH WALDEN MAURER. I'm especially interested in Ruth's siblings: how many? their names? etc. Thanks.

CLARK, DENNY, EUBANKS posted by Carolyn Lacey on Friday, June 8, 2001

Looking for information on Henry DENNY. He was in Darke County on the census in 1840 in Gibson twp. On the 1850 Census Gibson twp appears to be in Mercer County. Believe he is related to Joshua DENNY who was in Darke County around 1850 in Harrison twp. Joshua DENNY's children also appear in Darke County around 1850. Sarah DENNY married Daniel CLARK; Patterson DENNY; Nancy DENNY married a EUBANKS. Could someone do a look up on the 1840 Darke County Census for Gibson twp page 13 and 14 for Henry DENNY, SR and Henry DENNY, JR? Thank you.

DETLING, GRAHAM, NINEATH, OTTO, SHIVELY posted by Beverly Hermes on Monday, June 11, 2001

GRAHAM and DETLING

The 1900 Minnesota census states that our ancestor, John GRAHAM, was born in OH in February 1868. Some other sources give the year as 1867 and 1869. Abt 1893, John married (place unknown) Helen DETLING, who was born 1876 in Sheboygan, WI. Helen's parents were Jacob DETLING, born 1844, and Augusta OTTO, born 1847.

The birth record, found at St. Phillips Catholic Church in Bemidji, MN, of John and Helen's son, Robert GRAHAM, born in 1907, has a notation that Robert married Georgianna SHIVELY NINEATH(?) in Greenville, OH. No date given. We're hoping this note is a clue that we should be searching in Darke County for our GRAHAMs.

If a lister has access to the 1870 and 1880 Darke County Census, would you please check for a John GRAHAM who would be age 2 or son the 1870 and age 12 or so in the 1880 census. Who are his parents and siblings???

I understand the birth records prior to 1908 for Darke County have been published in a book no longer available. If a lister has access to this publication, would you check for the birth of John GRAHAM in Feb 1867, 1868, and 1869? (His middle initial may have been F.)

Thank you for your kindness and if I can assist you in Minnesota, please, ask.

SPENCER, WATSON posted by Paul Brizendine on Monday, June 11, 2001

Looking for info on the WATSON and SPENCER Families in Darke County, Ohio. My Benjamin WATSON and Elizabeth SPENCER were md. in Greene County (1818), but have been unable to locate them in that county. However have seen an index for 1820 and 1830 census for Darke County and a Benjamin WATSON is listed in both years. I have records of SPENCER family members leaving Greene County and coming to Darke County and suspect that maybe so did my Benjamin and Elizabeth. Would appreciate any info or leads.

GRAHAM, SHIRELY, SHIVELY posted by Beverly Hermes on Saturday, June 23, 2001

(addition and correction to query posted June 11, 2001)

Georgeanna SHIVELY and Robert GRAHAM, married in Greenville, OH, ca 1930. Their stillborn son, Robert, born and died in Jan 1931, is buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Does anyone have access to the Evergreen Cemetery stone transcripts? What other GRAHAMs are buried there? Interested in connecting with GRAHAMs and SHIVELYs from Greenville, OH, area. (I previously had recorded Georgeanna's surname as SHIRELY, which I now know is incorrect.)
